CONTACT LENSES SAFETY TIPS
- Only use contact lens solution to store or rinse your contacts.
- Replace and clean your contacts as often as your doctor instructs.
- Replace your contact lenses every time you get a new bottle of solution; typically every 90 days.
- Never sleep in your contacts, unless your optometrists gives their approval.
- Don’t sleep in your contacts unless they are extended wear lenses.
- If you feel discomfort or your vision changes, remove the lenses and contact your doctor immediately.
- Never share someone else’s contacts.
- Never swim with your contacts on as bacteria can build up while you swim.
TYPES OF CONTACT LENSES
Single-use lenses that are removed and discarded at the end of each day.
Daily wear contacts. Remove only when sleeping. Clean daily to prevent bacteria build-up.
Can be worn for days at a time.
Your Optometrist will explain the Extended Wear schedule at the time of the exam.
Must be cleaned daily and/or every time they are removed.
HOW TO CLEAN YOUR CONTACT LENSES?
- Wash your hands thoroughly before handling your contact lenses.
- Always use the fresh disinfecting solution recommended by your Optometrist for your specific type of lenses.
- Rub each contact lens gently for at least 20 seconds with the disinfecting solution and then rinse each side with fresh cleaning solution.
- Place the contact lens inside the case with a cleaning solution, making sure the lenses are completely submerged. Check the label for cleaning times.
- Never top-off contact lens solution after it’s been used to clean the lenses; you should go through a full bottle of solution every 90 days.
